In this 4-session study, New Testament scholar Amy-Jill Levine explores the Biblical texts (the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke) surrounding the story of the birth of Jesus, tracing the Christmas narrative through the stories of Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary, the journey to Bethlehem, and the visit from the Magi. We will cover how these stories connect with the Old Testament and also Mary's Magnificat, the census, the stable, the star of Bethlehem, and the flight to Egypt.
