To light our way in the new year, we will be giving out sacred scrolls in worship on January 1, 2023. Come by to grab one anytime after January 1st! During our service, we welcome everyone to share a short reflection on their 2022 scrolls and their spiritual impact.
Each scroll has a passage from Scripture on it, and the crumpled texture is meant to remind us how old Scripture is. God's Word has been passed down to us from generation to generation.
With a scroll, God's Word will illuminate our paths ahead. How? By seeing its light anew each day. As we read and pray over each of our scrolls, some questions to ponder:
1) What words or phrases stand out? Why?
2) What does this passage say about God?
3) What is God's Word leading me to do?
Following the prophet Ezekiel's example, let's partake in God's Word and let it guide our hearts and minds!
EZEKIEL 3:1-3
"He said to me, “O mortal, eat what is offered to you; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat. 3 He said to me, “Mortal, eat this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” Then I ate it, and in my mouth it was as sweet as honey."
