Today, we're celebrating the wonderful and ever-powerful ministry of Vacation Bible School.  A huge thanks to Rachel Crim for her ongoing leadership - VBS is always so much fun because of all her preparation!  VBS is also fun because of all our older disciples who devote their time to teach, play, learn, and laugh with our younger disciples.  VBS memories truly last a lifetime!

This year's theme took us way up into the far corners of the galaxy.  Space is dark, but not too dark for God's light to shine through!  In John, Jesus assures us that he's the "light of the world" (Jn. 8:12).  The world includes the far-reaching cosmos!  In God's created order, all things are held in harmony, and so the apostle Paul teaches us to "live in harmony with each other" (Rm. 12:16).  In every VBS, it's easy to follow the advice of the Psalmist, who tells us to "shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!" (Ps. 100:1).  We shout with many songs and overflowing joy!  Jesus instructs us to "trust in God" (Jn. 14:1) so that way, we can let our "good deeds shine" (Mt. 5:16).  Let's shine bright down on Olivet Road so that the astronauts up in space can see our light!"

Going Forth Prayer: Lord, help us shine with your light!  Amen.
