Traditionally called Gaudete Sunday, the 3rd Sunday of Advent is when we reflect on JOY! Gaudete is the Latin word meaning rejoice. We have JOY when we rejoice in Jesus. We find JOY in the assurance that our Savior is soon to be born among us, yet again. But sometimes it’s hard to hold on to joy through the business of life trying to juggle family, work, shopping, decorating, wrapping, church commitments, and... Let us stop, breathe, and keep our focus on the real reason for the season – Jesus, the WORD made flesh on Christmas morning.
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. 4In him was life, and the life was in the light of all people. 14The light shines in the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it. John 1:1, 4, 14
Joy to the World, the Lord has come,
Let earth receive her King!
